A sprinkler system protects buildings, property and, most importantly, lives. But that same sprinkler system needs protection as well. Most sprinkler systems are made of steel piping, and when oxygen and water are trapped inside those pipes, corrosion will occur unless preventative measures are taken. Without corrosion protection, blockages and pinhole leaks start to happen, shortening the life of the sprinkler system and decreasing its effectiveness during a fire. Leaks and blockages increase liability in the event of a fire, causes property damage, and result in costly repairs and downtime.

The good news is corrosion is preventable. Jeff Merwin, sportsbet sports betting app Electric Signal’s Director of Business Development, recently published an article to the Academic Facilities Council 2016 Newsletter detailing the causes of corrosion in wet and dry sprinkler systems, and what can be done to prevent it.
